Q & A

Q:What is the dress code?

A: We do not require official dress code. Diners with jeans are as common as those with jacket & tie. Most people seem comfortable in dressy or casual elegant attire.

Q:Why is there no sushi on the menu?

A: Sushi is a completely different category of Japanese cuisine from the Tokyo-style small plates Zenkichi specializes in. We believe that fully focusing on our specialty will help maintain the quality of our food, and hope that not serving sushi would entice more people to explore Japanese cuisine beyond sushi.

Q:What kind of beverages are served?

A: Zenkichi prides itself with over 50 kinds of carefully chosen premium sake bottles, as well as good selection of glass sake and a few bottled Japanese beer. We do not serve wine, except for champagne. If you’re looking for cocktails or wine, please visit our Oyster & Sake Bar Akariba next door. Open Fridays and Saturdays.

Q:Can I bring my own bottle?

A: We ask our customers to kindly refrain from bringing in outside food or beverages.

Q:Can I come in for just dessert or sake at the bar?

A: Drinks, a la carte menu items, and Zenkichi’s desserts can be enjoyed at our next door Oyster and Sake Bar Akariba on Fridays and Saturdays (no minimum order required). Should you choose to come in to Zenkichi, please note that we have a $20 minimum order requirement.

Q:Is delivery or pick up available?

A: We take the freshness of the food seriously. We do not offer delivery or pick-up.
